Les Roues Solidaires takes older people and frail people out on bike rides. It all started with one bike. Today it is a full service, with a bike, a driver and follow-up. Here is our story.

How it all started

Matthieu Spillmann loves electric bikes very much.
In 2019, he noticed one thing: older people and frail people can no longer ride a bike.
These people would like to ride. But there is no bike made for them.
So Matthieu thought about the Rosalie. It is a big bike from the old days. Several people pedal on it together.
He built his first bike. In the street, people stopped, smiled and asked to get on.

The bike gets better, year after year

In 2022, the OuiCycle bike took children to school in Saint-Georges d'Orques.
In 2023, a second bike was built. It became a bike that takes care of people.
In 2024, the bike arrived in its first homes for older people and for people with disabilities, in the Paris region.
In 2025, the third version of the bike was ready. It is stable, comfortable and easy for everyone to use.
In January 2026, Les Roues Solidaires was created. The bike rides became a real service.

The team that builds the bike

Engineers build the bike. An engineer is a person who invents and builds machines.
Simon drew the last two versions of the OuiCycle. He likes vehicles that pollute very little.
Since 2021, Simon has made the bike safer and stronger.
Yann takes care of the technology of the bike.
Yann made a program for a tablet. The program is linked to the bike and measures 4 things on each ride.

A bike that takes care of people

For many years, we have gone out on bike rides with people.
We understood one thing: the bike must not only move people. It must also take care of them.
This is why Les Roues Solidaires exists.
We offer bike rides in a group. We take care of everything.
We work with homes for older people and for people with disabilities, and with town councils.

From vehicle to programme

From the first quadricycle prototype to a cycle therapy
programme deployed across Île-de-France: the story
of OuiCycle and Les Roues Solidaires.

It started with a spark.

Matthieu Spillmann is a passionate electric-bike rider. In 2019, he made a simple observation: older people, and frail relatives, can no longer share the pleasure of cycling. Not for lack of desire, but for lack of a suitable vehicle.

He then rediscovered the Rosalie, the multi-seat bicycle of days gone by, and decided to design his own version. The first prototype took to the road. The reaction was immediate: passers-by stopped, smiled and asked to climb aboard!

From the workshop to the sessions

2022

OuiCycle launches its school transport service in Saint-Georges d'Orques. Stability, safety, accessibility: the values take root in the design.
2023

Second prototype: the quadricycle becomes a care tool. Modular configuration, independent pedal sets.
2024

The OuiCycle enters its first medico-social facilities in Île-de-France.
2025

Third and final generation of the OuiCycle: the vehicle reaches its current version, stable, ergonomic and accessible to all.
Jan. 2026

Les Roues Solidaires is born. The cycle therapy programme becomes a service in its own right, deployed across Île-de-France.

A passionate team: meet our engineers

The design of the OuiCycle began with a refusal. The refusal to trade off safety, energy sobriety and enjoyment against one another. Meet the people who turned it into reality.

Design engineer

Simon

Simon designed the last two generations of the OuiCycle. A keen believer in sustainable mobility, he imagined a frugal vehicle, almost self-sufficient in energy. Since 2021, he has been refining its safety and its reliability. A long-haul effort that gave birth to a stable, ergonomic and accessible bike.

Mechatronics engineer

Yann

Yann leads the technology side of the OuiCycle. He designed tablet software, connected to the vehicle, that makes our "4 measurements" possible: the foundation of our objective follow-up, session after session.

From vehicle to programme

After years in the field, one conviction took hold: the OuiCycle should not only carry people, it should care for them. That is where Les Roues Solidaires comes from: a turnkey group cycle therapy programme, designed for medico-social facilities and local authorities.
