The cycle therapy service
A turnkey program
Les Roues Solidaires provides your facility with a OuiCycle and a driver-facilitator trained in personal services, on a weekly or monthly subscription, by half-days. You don't have to buy, maintain or store the vehicle. Our driver-facilitator handles preparation, support, driving and the return.
How does a session unfold?
Example on an afternoon slot. Times are indicative and adapt to each facility's organisation.
- 1
Preparation
1:45 – 2:00 PMThe driver-facilitator arrives fifteen minutes before the session, talks with the care team about the registered beneficiaries, checks for any contraindications and installs the appropriate equipment.
- 2
Welcome & transfer
2:00 – 2:15 PMBeneficiaries are accompanied to the vehicle, with access designed for people with reduced mobility. The route is introduced, each person chooses their seat in the velobus, and seatbelts and supports are checked. A few gentle mobility and activation movements prepare everyone for the ride.
- 3
Route
2:15 – 3:45 PMThe outing is co-designed with the team: local market, park, banks of the Seine, place of remembrance. Each beneficiary pedals at their own pace thanks to the four independent pedal sets, or simply lets the electric assistance carry them along. The route alternates pedalling, observation and conversation, for continuous sensory and cognitive stimulation. Each ride lasts 20 to 30 minutes on average, which allows us to take around fifteen residents out during a single session.
- 4
Return, review & debrief
3:45 – 4:00 PMBack at the facility, time is set aside for recovery and hydration, and each beneficiary puts their sensations and observations into words. The driver-facilitator gives the team an oral debrief on the session's key moments, logs the indicators (mood, fatigue, participation) and fills in the beneficiary record in the tracking platform, connecting with the personalized care plan.
Operational details
- Three beneficiaries plus one support person per outing.
- Twelve to fifteen beneficiaries per half-day.
- Co-building with the care team: choice of beneficiaries, destinations and themes (memory, mobility, social bonds).
- Safety: driver-facilitator trained in personal services, professional liability insurance for driver and passengers (10 million euros), adapted equipment, operation on cycle paths.
- Zero infrastructure to create: no premises, no charging station, no fleet management on the facility's side.

For which residents?
For everyone eligible for gentle adapted physical activity, particularly people affected by Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, hemiplegia or functional disorders. In nursing homes, about 28% of residents are eligible; in assisted living or service residences, about 51%.
