Who are we?

This page is written in Easy Read English, with short sentences and simple words.

Les Roues Solidaires was born from a simple belief: everyone has the right to go outside and move. Our team is small, committed and trained in personal care. We work in France with recognised partners from the care and social sector.

Who we are

Inclusive mobility at the service of vulnerable groups

Les Roues Solidaires is a Social and Solidarity Economy company, founded in 2025, that delivers turnkey cyclo-therapy services to medico-social and medico-educational facilities, and to local authorities.

A smile in the golden light - the horizon we work toward, every day.
roots

Our story

  1. ≈ 2017

A French design office behind the OuiCycle

It all started with France Quadricycle, a French design office and prototyping studio that has held the ESUS accreditation for over seven years, set on developing a vehicle that lets four people pedal at the same time, whatever their profile or abilities. France Quadricycle imagined, designed and assembled the OuiCycle vehicle in France - an intermediate active mobility vehicle, halfway between a bicycle and a car.

  2. 2020+

An encounter with the medico-social sector

As deployments progressed, the team noticed that the OuiCycle's potential reached far beyond mainstream urban mobility: it could become a real therapeutic tool for vulnerable groups. The first tests, carried out with partner nursing homes (EHPAD) and medico-educational facilities (IME, residential care homes), confirmed that intuition. The project then shifted to a mission focused on medico-social audiences and local authorities.

  3. 2025

The birth of Les Roues Solidaires

In 2025, Les Roues Solidaires is created as an SSE company dedicated to operating the cyclo-therapy service. The structure joins PERQO, the incubator at the head office of the Île-de-France Region, and wins the Paris & Co Social Innovation contest. A first pilot is being prepared with the CCAS and the Sport-Health House of Gennevilliers.

  4. demain

    Co-construction with institutions

The methodology of the program is co-designed with the professionals who support the beneficiaries - psychomotor therapists, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. To ensure that the health metrics collected during the sessions are indisputable and actionable, they will be defined with the input of leading institutions: Gérondif, CNSA, Agirc-Arrco and AFNOR.

Why Les Roues Solidaires?

For too long, mobility has been designed for working-age adults and the able-bodied. With Les Roues Solidaires, we bring back to centre stage those who were left behind along the way: older adults, people with disabilities, the most isolated.

A session is not just a ride: it's an appointment prepared with the care team, experienced with the residents, and measured. That's what turns it into a genuine medico-social programme.

Mission & values

Our mission

Our mission is simple: to put mobility back at the service of the people that modern mobility has forgotten. Dependent older adults, people with disabilities and isolated people often endure a silent house arrest. Movement, fresh air and social bonds are no longer self-evident for them. We want to change that.

our four pillars

Our values

Public interest

Les Roues Solidaires operates within a public-interest logic. Our status as a Social and Solidarity Economy company and our ESUS accreditation commit us to a path of social usefulness towards our beneficiaries.

Non-stigmatisation

We reject imagery that infantilises older people or reduces people with disabilities to their pathology. Our vocabulary, the design of the OuiCycle and our practices are crafted in that spirit - so much so that young people discovering the vehicle often react spontaneously with a heartfelt « Trop stylé, c'est ça qu'il nous faut ! » (« So cool, that's what we need! »).

High standards

The medico-social sector, despite its chronic lack of funding, deserves the same standards as any other sector. We pay particular attention to the quality of the vehicle, to the training of our driver-facilitators, and to the rigour of impact measurement.

Co-construction

Every structuring decision - for the OuiCycle as well as for the program - is made with our clients and partners, be they psychomotor therapists, occupational therapists, activity leaders or physiotherapists. The program evolves with them, not for them.

Our team

Les Roues Solidaires brings together three skill sets: the product expertise inherited from France Quadricycle, the medico-social experience built with our partners, and the field know-how of our driver-facilitators.

Product expertise

From France Quadricycle, an ESUS-accredited French design office.

Medico-social experience

Built with our partners: nursing homes, IME, residential homes, MSS.

Field know-how

Carried by our permanent driver-facilitator staff.

at the heart

Field team - driver-facilitators

At the heart of the program, our driver-facilitators run the daily sessions. They are recruited and trained in personal services, hired on permanent contracts, and follow an in-house training programme covering OuiCycle driving, support for vulnerable groups, operational safety and post-session debriefing with care teams.

WHO

Profiles recruited

  • Prior experience in personal services, the medico-social sector or geriatric activity-leading.
  • Driving licence (B) required.
  • Sensitivity to the target audience and strong interpersonal skills.
TRAIN

In-house training

  1. 1 Module 1: OuiCycle driving and routine maintenance (2 days).
  2. 2 Module 2: support for vulnerable groups, posture, adapted communication (2 days).
  3. 3 Module 3: safety, first-aid actions, handling of sensitive situations (1 day).
  4. 4 Module 4: post-session debriefing and use of the measurement platform (1 day).

The programme is validated through a supervised real-life assessment before the first solo intervention.

manifesto

Our purpose

Why we exist

Loss of mobility is rarely a sudden event. It settles in stroke by stroke. A fall, a staircase that becomes impassable, outings that grow rarer, a neighbourhood that shrinks, a horizon that closes in.

As the horizon closes in, physical health, memory, social ties and self-esteem all erode. Mobility is not a perk: it is what connects us to the world.

We believe that this silent house arrest is not inevitable. That it can be prevented, slowed down, sometimes reversed - provided we invent programs that meet these audiences where they are, with solutions they can actually use.

The OuiCycle was born from this engineering conviction: a vehicle designed to allow several vulnerable people to move together, safely, each contributing at their own pace. Les Roues Solidaires was created to bring this vehicle to life day after day, in nursing homes, in CCAS, in Sport-Health Houses.

We do not claim to revolutionise adapted physical activity in the medico-social sector, but we have already seen that this concrete solution carried by the OuiCycle delivers far more than a physical-activity session: it lets residents leave the facility without any logistical effort and multiplies encounters and interactions with the surrounding environment.

That is why we exist.
